How to Activate CCleaner Professional with a License Key (2026)

Short answer: to activate CCleaner Professional, install CCleaner, open it and enter your license key: in CCleaner 7 go to Settings (the gear icon) > My Subscription; in CCleaner 6 go to Options > License Key, enter your name and key and select Next. Paste the key instead of typing it, because CCleaner keys never contain the number 1. That is all you need to activate CCleaner with a key.

Before you activate CCleaner

• Check the platform. A CCleaner Professional key for Windows does not work on a Mac, and a Mac key does not work on Windows. Only bundles such as Professional Plus or Premium cover both.
• Install the latest version. Download CCleaner from ccleaner.com. You can start with the free version and turn it into Professional with your key.
• Keep your CCleaner license key ready. If you bought from a shop like IQSIX, it is in the email with your order.

You do not need to uninstall the free version first. Activating your key simply unlocks the Professional features in the CCleaner you already have.

How to activate CCleaner 7 with a license key

CCleaner 7 has a new design, so the license screen moved. According to CCleaner staff:

1. Open CCleaner on your PC.
2. Select Settings (the gear icon).
3. Open the My Subscription tab.
4. Select the button to enter your license key, paste your key and confirm.
5. Check that CCleaner now shows Professional instead of Free.

If you use the free version, you also see a coloured Upgrade to Pro icon at the bottom left. It disappears once your Professional license is active.

How to activate CCleaner 6 (older versions)

In CCleaner 6, a registration box usually appears when you install CCleaner Professional. If it does not, CCleaner Support says to do this:

1. Open CCleaner.
2. Select Options, then License Key.
3. Enter your name and your license key.
4. Select Next to register CCleaner Professional.

If a newer version is available, it is a good idea to update first: newer versions get the latest cleaning rules and fixes.

How to move CCleaner Professional to a new PC

When you get a new computer, you can move your license if it covers one PC. CCleaner staff explain the steps on the CCleaner Community:

1. Download and install CCleaner Free on the new PC.
2. Enter your license key in the app (CCleaner 7: Settings > My Subscription; CCleaner 6: Options > License Key).
3. Uninstall CCleaner from the old PC, unless your license covers more than one device.

A one-device license is meant for one computer at a time, so remove it from the old machine when you switch.

CCleaner license key not working?

• Typos. Small typing errors are the most common problem. Paste the key from your email. If you type it, remember that CCleaner keys never contain the number 1: use a capital i instead.
• Wrong platform. A Windows key does not work on a Mac and the other way round.
• Old version. Update to the latest CCleaner and enter the key again.
• Wrong place. In CCleaner 7 the key goes in Settings > My Subscription, not in the cleaning screens.
• Lost key. If you bought directly from CCleaner, their license lookup tool emails your key to your purchase email. If you bought from IQSIX, the key is in our email; ask us on WhatsApp if you cannot find it.

What does CCleaner Professional add?

The free version cleans junk files by hand. CCleaner Professional adds tools that do more of the work for you, such as automatic and scheduled cleaning, a Software Updater to keep your apps up to date, a Driver Updater and a Performance Optimizer that puts unused programs to sleep. The exact list depends on your version.

For most home users, the biggest gains come from automatic cleaning and keeping apps and drivers updated without checking each one by hand. After you activate, open the settings once and choose how often CCleaner should clean, so it runs quietly in the background.

Which version do you have?

The steps are different in CCleaner 7 and CCleaner 6, so check your version first. Your license key itself works in both: CCleaner staff say you can enter it in a recent CCleaner 6 or in CCleaner 7. You can see it in the app’s settings or About screen. If you are not sure, simply install the newest version from the official website: it updates your current installation, and you then follow the CCleaner 7 steps above.

Download CCleaner only from the official website

Always download the installer from ccleaner.com. Copies on random download sites can be old or bundled with other software you do not want. The official installer is free; your license key is what turns it into the Professional edition.

If your browser or Windows asks whether you want to run the installer, check that the publisher shown is the CCleaner company before you continue.

CCleaner or the cleanup tools in Windows?

Windows 11 has its own cleanup tool called Storage Sense, which can delete temporary files and empty the Recycle Bin automatically (Microsoft). For many people that is enough to free space.

• Check which cookies you want to keep, so you do not get logged out of every website.
• Run a cleaning once a week, or let the Professional version do it automatically.

CCleaner should not replace your antivirus. Keep Windows Security or another antivirus running alongside it.

How to uninstall CCleaner

If you no longer need CCleaner, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps in Windows 11, find CCleaner, select the three dots and choose Uninstall. Do this on your old PC when you move your license to a new one.

How long does a CCleaner Professional key last?

Most CCleaner Professional licenses run for one year. The IQSIX key is for one PC for one year. When it ends, CCleaner goes back to the free features until you enter a new key, and your files and settings stay as they are.
